The details.

What did you do exactly?

I went through and rewatched the show (looking most carefully at seasons 4-7) and edited out scenes of intercourse between characters, scenes of pillow talk if they become long or overly provocative, as well as references to Willow, Tara, or Kennedy being in a homosexual relationship. I can't entirely obfuscate the relationship between Tara and Willow being a strong one, but I edit dialogue to give the impression that they are simply good friends. Of course, heterosexual characters having had sexual relations is a key plot point in some episodes (particularly in seasons 2, 4, and 6), so dialogue mentioning characters having sex is often left in.

Some episodes simply don't work plot wise unless we see the aftermath of characters having had sex (for instance, season 6's As You Were). In these cases I simply shortened some redundant dialogue from the scenes, but kept the important details that impacted the episode in general. Season 7's The Killer in Me was probably the most difficult episode of the show to edit since I had to essentially remove the inciting incident and the resolution - yet make the episode still seem natural (similarly with Season 4's New Moon Rising). Some things don't always flow perfectly, but the big details are usually there - at minimum in dialogue if they are not shown visually.

Despite my best efforts, many who watch this edit may find that I was too stringent or not stringent enough as far as what was included. I really only went by my personal level of comfort with the source material, and the kind of things I would want removed given that I love rewatching shows. In short, some viewers may not agree with every individual edit — but I hope you still find this altered version of Buffy enjoyable as a whole.

What about the upscaling?

I used Video Enhance AI by Topaz Labs to take the 480p original video to a serviceable 1080p using the Gaia AI model. This worked better than I expected generally, though the scans of season 7 were pretty bad in some places, so the upscale wasn't really able to do much to improve the look of those episodes.

What qualifies you to do this?

I went to film school; I make videos and run internet related projects for a living. That said this Buffy edit isn't exactly what I'd consider "pro" level work, but it turned out pretty well generally.
